Dryandra Country Art, food & Wine Trail

Wickepin, Cuballing, Narrogin and Williams created a haven of art, food & wine with a big dose of country air and hospitality for the 5th annual art trail held over the recent Mother’s Day weekend.

Visitors in huge numbers from around the Great Southern and Perth spent the weekend exploring the region and visiting Wickepin and the Shire as part of the trail.

The Wickepin Town Hall was filled with art displays by Caroline Coate, Mesha Hall and Debra Scidone.

Caroline had us pondering the method of Socrates. Mesha painted the hall pretty while we watched. Debra chatted to all about her 30 years documenting the landscape near us (and challenged us to the blob test).

Prema Sexton created a perfect photographic portraiture pop-up studio. She Shed He Shed wowed everyone with the diversity and quality of their recycled/upcycled metal sculptures. Silvery Moon created bespoke silver jewellery. Something Painted, TinkerBay Frames and That’s Sew Kate showed the region the perfection and depth of local artisans. Selina’s Garden was abundant with greenery. Christine Hill Food fed us sumptuously all weekend. Belinda Dycer awed everyone with her floral art. Helen Warrilow’s local paintings were equally loved. Photographs by Rachael Guinness and her travels made us stop and think. Not to mention the olives, preserves and other goodies available.

Wickepin Community Resource Centre organised a market day on the Saturday to coincide with the trail. They had a fabulous street performer and vintage car display along with all the street vendors.

A VERY big thank you to all the volunteers, and shire ground staff who had the town looking so good.
