Wickepin Centenary

The Wickepin Centenary was celebrated on 25 October 2008.

A Centenary Wall was designed and built to commemorate Wickepin's centenary. It features plaques recognising the contributions made by past and present residents of the entire Wickepin District.

In the lead up to the Wickepin Centenary the Wickepin History Book Committee was formed with the aim of collecting as many family stories as possible of former and current residents of the Wickepin District. The result was the publication of Wickepin’s very own history book “Other Fortunate Lives”. Copies of the book can be obtained by contacting the Wickepin Community Resource Centre and more information about the Wickepin History Book can be found here

Wickepin Centenary Wall

Located in the main street of Wickepin, between the Albert Facey Homestead and the Wogolin Recreation Park, the Centenary Wall was officially unveiled by Mr H. M. (Murray) Lang OAM, Freeman of the Wickepin Shire, on Saturday 25 October 2008. The Wickepin Centenary Wall was erected to allow past and present residents of the Wickepin District to be recognised for the time spent and the contributions made to the District.

In April 2024 the Centenary Wall was refurbished with new plaques by volunteers from the Wickepin History Group with financial assistance from the Shire of Wickepin.

Past and present residents of the Wickepin District are welcome to purchase a plaque to be attached to the wall. For more information about the Centenary Wall or to order a family plaque, contact the Shire of Wickepin Administration Officer on 9888 1005.
