The Fire Response Vehicle Identifier sticker application for the September 2026–2028 period can be downloaded below.

The relevant sticker cycle is 1 October 2026 to 30 September 2028. The stickers have a two-year life span and the colour changes every two years.

For the application, you generally need to:

  1. Read the DFES Guidelines for Operating Private Equipment at Fires.

  2. Complete the required vehicle/equipment checklists.

  3. Complete the Rural Fire Awareness Course.

  4. Attach evidence of completing the course.

  5. Complete the Fire Response Vehicle Identifier Application Form (PDF)

  6. Submit the application to your local government.

The sticker identifies an authorised private vehicle for incident support/access; it does not give the vehicle emergency-vehicle privileges or exemption from normal road rules.
